Name: Mel West
Attended: Life Planning Workshop, Melbourne, 22 February 2010

My greatest achievements so far are… Last week I signed up for a one-bedder off the plan! This was my year one goal with a 10 year goal to own a three bedroom home.

I joined 10thousandgirl because… I had a bunch of ideas and wanted to throw them out into the universe to see if I was making sense. The energy and enthusiasm of everyone nutting out what to do, when and how was so addictive and encouraging. I’ve since made a point to be a springboard for others who need to air their big but still quiet ideas.

My personal goals for the next 12 months are… Write five blog posts by the end of April to get a style together then complete five per month after that.

My financial goals for the next 12 months are… Save. We have a ring, wedding and another 10% of the flat to save up for by July next year. We are about to put together a savings plan by month to make sure we enjoy the process and avoid excess financial drama.

In 3-5 years I’ll be… Still learning, being creative and thinking positive!

And financially, in 3-5 years I’ll be… Buying the second and third investment property.
It’s my birthday in the year 2020 and I… will have a glass of Barossa red in my hand, laugh lines on my face and will be wearing a killer pair of shoes out the back of the three bedroom home in the inner city.

The very first steps I’m going to take right now are… I finally made the call and have a meeting with a loan man this week. In 20 days we hand over the deposit so it’s time to slow the additions to my wardrobe and say hello to a clean up and a market sale.
